Introducing Digital Construction
VERK was asked to do a complete redesign of The Digital Constructions site, which is a project under the Danish Construction Association. We built a new platform in the Drupal framework which could support the vast amount of information which this site needed to convey to the engineers, architects, construction workers and contractors in the Danish construction industry. The content is arranged in topics which are related and relatable which means that the user will always be able to access more information about the subject she was looking for.
The site can be viewed here.
Imagine this: A building is being constructed. Architects and engineers are making the blueprints. Workers are hammering away on the site. And then there’s a change of plans: The buyer wants a wall moved – nothing drastic – just a meter or two. So the architect revises the drawings, and the engineer makes sure that it’s possible. New drawings are printed, and sent by currier to the construction-site. Only to find that the wall was built 12 hours earlier. You’d be amazed at how often this actually happens.
Digital construction tools allow real time collaboration between all parties involved in making a building. It goes without saying that the implementation of digital construction tools will save both time and money, which is also why the Danish Construction Association commissioned VERK to build a platform that assisted the sector in implementing the tools and workflows.
The platform has a wide reach, communicating to everyone from architects to the guys “on the ground” making the whole thing happen. We’ve combined an educational platform with inspiration from different stakeholders, so the visitor can read or view concrete examples of how their peers are working to incorporate digital tools.
Think Wikipedia meets YouTube. For Bob the Builder.
